Biography

Karis is passionate about seeking out and harnessing the potential of things, whether they be deeply misunderstood characters or abandoned pieces of tattered furniture, she derives enormous pleasure in finding inspiration in unexpected places and revealing the beauty within something that may seem, at first glance, undesirable.

Karis is best known for her recurring role as Ronna Beckman, on the final two seasons of The West Wing. She has also recurred on

The Fosters and has had major guest-starring roles on many hit television shows including, ER, Rizzoli & Isles, NCIS, Battle Creek and The Forgotten, among others.

Currently in the festival phase of sharing her writing/directorial debut, 'Tomorrow', Karis is tremendously excited about sharing this piece, far and wide, in 2019. For more information about the film, checkout their website:

Karis was also thrilled to embark on a new chapter as a narrator in 2018, with her narration of Catherynne Valente's celebrated book, Refrigerator Monologues.

She was both humbled and grateful to be recognized as an Audie Award Finalist in the fantasy category for her very first efforts as a narrator and is very much looking forward to future opportunities to collaborate with Catherynne again, as well as with other wonderful writers as she gets to bring her voice to their prose.

Karis graduated from Sarah Lawrence College and spent her early adult years training and working in the theatre in London, New York, Wisconsin and Seattle. When her focus shifted to exciting opportunities in film and television, she happily began calling Los Angeles home.

Born and raised in Asia, Karis proudly considers herself a global citizen and she is thrilled to be raising two wonderful children who are eagerly following in her worldly footsteps. Her greatest passion, beyond her artistic expression as an actor, narrator, writer and director,  is traveling and exploring the world and other cultures with her husband and their two beautiful children.
